Presbyterian Church Government

A Presbyterian Church is governed according to the pattern of elders seen in the Old and New Testaments. The word "Presbyter" is Greek for Elder. Presbyterian means, therefore, governed or ruled by Elders. The Elders collectively make up the Session which includes Teaching Elders (pastors) and the Ruling Elders.
