Endowment Fund: Consider Leaving a Legacy Through Your Church
Purpose:
The purpose of the Endowment Fund is to provide an investment in the long-range capability of this congregation to glorify God and to further the work of His Kingdom. Gifts made to the Endowment Fund remain in permanent trust for the perpetual benefit of Diamondhead Community Church's religious, charitable, and educational activities. The initial goal for the Endowment Fund is to raise $500,000 and any disbursements from the Fund will come from the income earned above and beyond the total principal contributed. The Endowment Fund is a permanent fund, separate from the church's annual operating budget.
Disbursements:
Disbursements from the Endowment Fund will not be used for ongoing church operating expenses. Rather, disbursements from the Fund will be allocated to expand and enrich the mission and ministries of the Church and also to assist in capital improvements to the church facilities, specifically:
Mission: Seed money for special programs for community outreach or new mission projects.
Ministry: Seed money for special projects or programs in education, music, or youth.
Church Facilities: Capital improvements, major repairs, small additions or debt reduction.
Exceptions to the above uses of the Fund may be considered by the Endowment Committee.
Giving to the Endowment Fund:
The Diamondhead Community Church Endowment Fund is another way you can give to the Church. A contribution to the Endowment Fund is an investment in the future viability of the Church and its mission. You can provide a legacy at your death or give during your lifetime. This means that your donation becomes an everlasting gift that provides perpetual financial support to your Church for many generations to come, enabling it to witness God’s love and grace through His son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! All gifts made to the Diamondhead Community Church are generally tax deductible.
How You Can Donate to the Endowment Fund
Annual Pledge: During the church’s annual stewardship campaign, a designated amount may be pledged to the Endowment Fund on your Pledge Card as well as amounts pledged to the church’s everyday operation including pastoral staff, mission, ministries, etc. Contributions to the Endowment Fund can then be made using the church’s weekly offering envelopes.
Cash: Gifts of cash are one of the easiest and most direct ways to give to the Endowment Fund. Checks should be made payable to the Diamondhead Community Church Endowment Fund and mailed to the Church at 5301 Diamondhead Circle, Diamondhead, MS 39525.
Online Donation Using PayPal: If you would like to make an online financial donation to the Endowment Fund using PayPal, please use the “Donate” button at the bottom of the page. PayPal accepts most major credit cards.
Other Types of Gifts: Others types of gifts may also be donated to the Endowment Fund, but it may be appropriate to consult an estate planning attorney, accountant, or certified financial planner if considering the following types of gifts to see how this might impact your personal financial situation.
Assets (stocks, bonds, mutual funds & real estate): Appreciated assets that have been held more than one year may provide greater tax benefits. For a qualified charitable organization like the Diamondhead Community Church, you completely avoid capital gains tax, and you may receive a charitable deduction on your income tax.
Planned Gift or Bequest (life insurance, retirement accounts & wills): You can simply name the Diamondhead Community Church’s Endowment Fund as a beneficiary on a life insurance policy or a retirement account. You may also name the Diamondhead Community Church’s Endowment Fund for a bequest in your will.
Charitable Gift Annuity: Your gift can provide income during your life, and the church’s Endowment Fund would receive the remainder after your death.
Various pamphlets are available in the Fellowship Hall to aide in planning a donation to the Endowment Fund. For additional information on making a gift to the Endowment Fund, please contact John Wittliff, the treasurer for the Endowment Fund at (228) 255-9946.
