Interested in Church Membership?
Becoming a member of DCC is easy. At regular intervals throughout the year, Dr. Gillespie leads New Member Classes on Sunday afternoons. These are generally six-week sessions focusing on basic questions and answers about Christianity, Presbyterian beliefs and Diamondhead Community Church itself. Prospective members may join by moving their membership from another church, the sacrament of baptism, re-affirmation of faith or as a first-time profession of faith. We welcome anyone who is interested in joining the church to contact Dr. Gillespie or the church office at 228.255.5556 to inquire about the next opportunity.
As the name implies, the Membership Committee is responsible for representing the Diamondhead Community Church to those who are interested in joining our church. This interest is usually expressed by visiting one of our church services. We meet and greet all visitors, introduce them to other members who might have some common interests, and assist them in just getting to know what we have to offer. Diamondhead Community Church is a very friendly and active church. We welcome all opportunities to share our church with our visitors.
After a new visitor attends one of our services, a representative of the committee will greet the visitor and, with consent, introduce him/her to our congregation. We make a follow-up call at their home with information about the church. In subsequent visits to the church we can answer any other questions that might come up. Dr. Gillespie conducts “New Member Classes”as needed each year. After attending the four class sessions covering what we believe, the New Members are installed during our church services.
After the installation, the committee follows up to make certain that new members are assimilated into the life of the church, encouraging them to be active in at least two of the church activities.
This committee is still in the process of determining what more it can do to further the work of Diamondhead Community Church as well as the “Church Universal”. We welcome new members to join our committee. If you have questions or comments you may contact the committee chair, Jim Mills. We look forward to meeting you.
Meet some of our newest members. Please let us know if we can help you join our family.
